Duane > We were about 1 1/2 hours before before a max ebb of 5.79 knots. You can see the eddy line at Lime Point under the bridge.

Duane > Nearly everyone struggled multiple times before making it against the ebb at Lime Point. The trick was to hold your spot and wait for a swell to give you a push. Here a paddler is on the treadmill, with Jim Kennedy (right), the trip leader, giving some pointers. Jim was easily able to handle the spot.

Duane > I took this photo after making it around the point. In the distance, you can see a paddler in the eddy on the up current side at Lime Point. In front of him is the second challenge, a wash over rock, where you had to use the swell to get over against the current. Out of our group of 13 paddlers, two people were carried around the point in the safety skiff the symposium had.

Duane > Sean Morley waiting to "debrief" us after the paddle.

Duane > In the basement recreation room at the hostel that most of us stayed at, I organized Greenland ropes for Friday and Saturday nights. It was great fun and a lot of paddlers did really well. Here I'm making sure Kim Grandfield keeps the family jewels safe.
